The Free Peoples of Russia House (FPRH) is a Washington, D.C.–based discussion platform, think tank, and social club supporting democratic movements across Eurasia and the right of people to determine their political future.
Founded shortly after the unprovoked Russian invasion of Ukraine and in condemnation of it, FPRH currently focuses on the consequences of the current Russian regime’s actions, providing a forum for experts, dissidents, and partners to examine Russia’s political trajectory, oppose authoritarian expansionism and strengthen global support for Ukraine’s sovereignty.
Our Core Pillars
As a discussion platform, we host weekly events that convene policymakers, scholars, journalists, artists, and civic leaders to foster open dialogue, intellectual exchange, and public engagement around the challenges facing democratic societies. Among former notable guests are: former President of Poland and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Lech Wałęsa, former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine John E. Herbst, award-winning investigative journalist Simon Ostrovsky, among others.
As a think tank, we produce concise country and situational reports and publications developed by our fellows, associates, and interns, and disseminate them to policymakers to support more informed decision-making on Eastern Europe and Eurasia. These analyses draw on field-based research, expert insight, and open-source information to assess political, economic, and security trends, offering timely perspectives that help shape policy discussions and strategic responses.
As a social club, we host timely and socially relevant art and photography exhibitions, film screenings, and poetry readings featuring prominent domestic and international artists. We provide a welcoming space for open dialogue, cultural exchange, and community engagement, where attendees can connect, share perspectives, and engage freely with ideas and one another.
